June is PRIDE MONTH, a time to celebrate our 2SLGBTQIA+ community!!!
As we see beautiful rainbows around our communities, we are encouraged to reflect on both the ongoing struggle for equal rights and fair treatment, as well as celebrate and embrace diversity. What does being an ally look …like for you? Show kindness, make space for 2SLGBTQIA+ voices, and talk to each other about what it means for a community to be safe and inclusive.

This time last year, our Executive Director Tina Diamond wrote an open letter to the Mayor and Council of an Oxford County municipality that voted to exclude Pride flags and all other non-civic flags from being flown on its property. Instead, the municipality moved to only fly flags representing …municipal, provincial and federal governments.
From this letter: "It is our firm belief that we each have a role in building communities where all individuals feel welcomed, respected, supported, and valued."
A lot can happen in a year, and we are encouraged to learn that the Pride flag will be raised in all 8 area municipalities across Oxford County tomorrow! We take this opportunity to reinforce the importance in creating safe inclusive communities for all!!
Let us remain steadfast in our allyship to our 2SLGBTQIA+ community members.

Today is The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.
This year’s theme is "No one left behind: equality, freedom, and justice for all", and is an opportunity to both welcome progress, as well as draw attention to violence and discrimination experienced by …people based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Our community is safer, healthier, and more vibrant, when we break down barriers and create space for all to participate fully.
No one left behind: equality, freedom, and justice for all.

May 14, 2024, marks the 10th anniversary of Children and Youth in Care Day. The Ontario government proclaimed the day into law to raise awareness about children and youth in and from care and their unique needs and strengths.
The #ForgetMeNot campaign aims to bring renewed attention to the… accomplishments and challenges of children and youth in the Ontario child welfare system.
Forget-me-nots symbolize love and respect and represent a promise of remembrance.
Like the flower, children and youth in care are resilient. But despite that strength, they need consistent care, attention, and tangible support to thrive. #ForgetMeNot

Today, in …Woodstock, Isan- Indigenous Solidarity & Awareness Network- Oxford installed a powerful display of red dresses, and led community members through some teachings, both offering messages of the reality of trauma, as well as hope.
