On #TransDayOfRemembrance, we remember those who have died because of transphobia. The transgender community endures ongoing discrimination and violence, and we recognize that it can have far reaching impacts on children/youth. We stand with those who fight for equity & justice.
We …know that 2SLGBTQIA+ children and youth are overrepresented in child welfare and experience inequitable outcomes. On #TransDayOfRemembrance we want to acknowledge that as a child welfare sector, we are committed to protecting the rights of trans children/youth and caregivers.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month.
Children and youth best thrive when their care is provided in a safe permanent space. When this is not possible in their home, extended family members or community members with connections to the family are sought (Kinship).
When …all other options have been exhausted, adoption is another permanency option considered for children and youth.
Adoption is intended to provide children with the stability and lifelong security that comes from a permanent home.

September 30th is both National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day.
The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing …impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
Featured in our photo is a Truth and Reconciliation themed crosswalk that is located in Ingersoll ON.
It is a project of ISAN Oxford (Indigenous Solidarity & Awareness Network Oxford), Ingersoll BIA, and the Town of Ingersoll, and is a beautiful public symbol for us to have continued reflection and awareness.
